"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." - Edith Wharton
As a photographer, it is humbling to be chosen by individuals to reflect themselves through my lens and artwork. The passion I have for presenting the "best version" of others burns within me and is a valuable gift that I offer for the taking.
Anyone with the interest, bravado, and vulnerability to step in front of my lens gains my love and respect. To be photographed by a person who cherishes people, places, and events so deeply is to share a connection. Connection and love only enhances the experience and the images.
I invite you to step into my world for an hour or two. We'll go on a adventure, get to know each other, and come back with beautiful images of YOU as a small token of my appreciation. Sounds like a good time to me. What about you?
Senior Portraits are absolutely one of my favorite sessions to capture. There is a bleeding line between childhood and adulthood that is a point of pure magic. I love the confidence mixed with the shyness, the child mixed with the young adult, and the undercurrent that vibrates a promise of a future. Watching these young adults come out of their shell, as we get to know each other, is such a transformational and fun process. For some, this is the only professional portrait they will have taken in their life time. Capturing this moment as it passes is my pure joy and a true honor.
"Portraiture keeps me humble. It's simple and straightforward. There is nothing more interesting I can make up than the figure sitting right in front of me." -Jemima Kirke
Women are my main source of inspiration. All the stages of growth into womanhood, and especially motherhood, is an awe inspiring transformation. Capturing the glow of maternity, as the promise of new life accentuates your form, and prepares you for a new beginning always takes my breath to observe.
The photography movement of "I was there too" resonates with many mothers, and portraits of you in your natural state surrounded by the love of your child (or children) is valuable.
These are spaces in time that require a PAUSE. Do so with a piece of legacy artwork to keep the memory of this special time alive in your head and heart forever. Your children and their children will reflect back and appreciate the investment.
Childhood is the most fleeting time in our lives. As a parent, you are acutely aware of the warp speed that we operate in and how almost overnight features change, personalities become more distinguished, and our babies morph from infants to toddlers, toddlers to preschoolers, preschoolers to kindergarteners,... and it NEVER slows down.
Sometimes I don't realize how much my own children have grown until I sit down to edit a photo. In those moments, I take a PAUSE and seek out a hug. It happens right before our eyes and being present is not always possible. Thankfully there are means of capturing the moment before they pass and are forgotten.
"Let me love you a little more before you are not little anymore."
No matter the stage, age, or grade of your child, it's important to document each chapter. Like a shooting star, these phases speed through our lives and leave us feeling stunned and in awe. Portraits will help take the sting out of the burn a bit, and you will look back on them fondly and often.
Every year I have my family's portrait taken. Once in the Fall and again in the Spring with just the kids and I for Mother's Day. It feels good to have a professional portrait to be able to hang on the wall, print for the grandparents, add to my screensaver slideshow, and of course to include on our annual holiday cards. It surprises me each year to compare the growth between the Fall and Spring portraits. One thing is for sure, families are ever growing and changing. We have new additions to our immediate and extended families, and lose loved ones as well. The family dynamic is rarely stagnant.
When I think of portraits that I would want to preserve, if it ever came to choosing, the ones that stand out in my mind are my professionally created images. Whether it is my immediate family or the generational ones that include my parents, siblings and their children. That collection is my "history" and timeline of my life. They are legacy pieces that keep the memory alive long after the event.
Some of my personal favorites are photos of my mom and family taken before I was born. I love to reflect back and get a glimpse of an era, before my time, when my mom and grandparents were young. Those formal shots are still "wall" worthy. I'm so grateful for them.
If you don't have a timeline going, maybe now is the time to start one for your family and its future generations.
Experimenting last year, I discovered that I love Fresh 48 sessions, and hope to branch out into birth photography in the future. This year I’m experimenting with in home newborn lifestyle portraiture. The start of a new life means the growth and change, outside of the womb, continues rapidly. Those precious first 48 hours post birth and first month of life happen to be the most noticeable morph as ears become unstuck, colors change, baby gains weight, and the journey of learning to use their five senses takes hold. These are rare moments that happen within hours and deserve to be preserved and remembered for your child’s lifetime. They will never be this little again. Allow me to share your sacred space for an hour or so and I’ll catch the story as it unfolds. Contact me for special pricing.

Boudoir photography has captured my heart. It takes an especially brave and adventurous soul to head out into the elements with me. This style of portraiture is as intimate as it gets. The level of trust that it requires is the biggest barrier. But if life has taught me anything, it is that you have to walk through the fire to be set free. Lean into the fear of the unknown. Love yourself, love your body and I will take care of the rest.
If my images stir something in you and you find yourself feeling curious about the possibilities, please contact me. There is no harm in having a discussion about what a potential photoshoot may create for you. I encourage you to lean into it and contact me for a chat.
Self love and celebration of self are vital to self care. Self care manifests itself differently for everyone and I invite you to explore a method that you may not have considered before.
Intimate portraits make amazing anniversary gifts too!
Landscapes & Nature
Nothing beats jumping in my Jeep with my dog, children, and my camera to explore the area in an attempt to get lost on the dirt road circuit that we are so blessed to be surrounded by in the Lake Almanor area. I’ve learned that you can get to Chester, Susanville, Greenville, and HWY 44 from Westwood on a dirt road easily. There are numerous mountain meadows, seasonal creeks, and seasonal lakes to discover beyond the general Lake Almanor and Butt Lake attractions. Fortunately for me those natural attributes marry quite nicely with my love of photography. With the ever-changing season, sky and landscape, it would be hard to not want to linger and drink in the beauty.

"Creativity is intelligence having fun." -Albert Einstein
Photography, as an art form, is a space of total vulnerability. Vulnerability requires courage. When you create something with your heart, soul, and mind to put out into the world for consumption, there is no guarantee that it will speak to others.
Art is subjective and its beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. It gives me great joy to share my artwork with those that appreciate it. There is an unstated kindred spirit connection that propels me forward in my work. If I can share the beauty of where I live, or the small details of the life that surround me, and it brings happiness to another... that is what makes life worthwhile for me. Spreading joy, love and beauty.
